How Breastfeeding Helped Me Lose 65 Lbs!

I have struggled with weight all my life. When I was 25 years old I became pregnant with my third child. I had tried breastfeeding my two previous children but did not have much success and gave up after two weeks. After finding research about the benefits of breastfeeding and how it can help burn over 500 calories a day, I was determined to go the distance and feed my new baby for at least one year.

It was very challenging to breastfeed my infant after she was born because I had to sit around and wait for her to finish up. Feedings would last 10-20 minutes or longer and she would eat every 1-2 hours. Needless to say, I was very busy with just feeding my baby. You would think that adding exercise would be impossible to do with this hectic schedule but with the support of family and friends I was able to take a break from feeding duties and workout.

I started keeping a journal. I started working out about 4 weeks after delivering my third child. I was up to 214 lbs and I was very unhappy with my body. I decided to record my weight and my measurements as a tool for motivation. Every time I would workout I would record the time and the activity that I did. I started off only being able to do 20 minutes on the Elliptical machine I bought from Wal-Mart for about $200. I also bought cheap DVD exercise videos on Ebay such as: Core Rhythms, Sean T.’s Dance Party, Tao Bo, and Crunch-Workout Videos. With all the variety of videos, elliptical machine, and plenty of sidewalks available outside, I was set to lose weight and reach my goal.

The first 20 lbs were the hardest to lose because the scale would go down but I saw no changes in the mirror when I would look at myself. After my jeans began to get too big and the numbers kept steadily declining I felt more motivated to keep up my hard work. I also had to focus on my diet. You cannot do all that hard work and not focus on what you are fueling your body with. I read books by Jorge Cruise on the “3-Hour Diet” and Dr. Ian Smith’s “Fat Smash Diet”. I also checked out books from my local library on diet, fitness, and exercise. I read every book I could find so that I would not be fooled by the gimmick diet pill ads and the “lose-weight-quick-fad-diets” that are available today. From my reading I found that losing weight too quickly was dangerous and would not last. I also learned that you need to fuel your body with protein, carbs, and fat in order to repair your body after a strenuous workout.

After 11 months of breastfeeding, working out 4 times per week, and eating meals at three hour intervals I found myself weighting 65 lbs less and looking great. Losing weight is more than just something that you can do real quick and be done with. You must dedicate yourself to it both physically and mentally. You must imagine yourself doing all the things that cause good health. Exercise, fitness, healthy eating, sleep, and water are some of the essential tools you need to get started. Not every plan works for everybody so find something you like and can stick with because if you don’t like it you won’t stick with it for very long. I also considered taking leptoconnect. It is one of the reliable weight loss supplements that is made from all natural ingredients. I would say that it is one of the best products that can help you to achieve your desired weight.
